When the Mississippi river was the interstate, Natchez had a perfect location. Now, though it's the birthplace, and original Capitol of the state of Mississippi, it's also 80 miles from any interstate highway.. you've got to want to get here... but when you do, it's a classy place!

Charboneau rum distillery claims 2 things.. to be the smallest distillery in the country at 1700 square feet, and the #1 rum in the country... with 92 and 93 points respectively for their white and gold rums. They also have a tavern next door that is the oldest building in the region.. built around 1780.

Next to the riverboat dock in Natchez was the oldest bar among the Mississippi where Mark Twain used to embibe and sleep it off.
