Day 2: Baton Rouge

I didn't know that cajun comes from the slang of Arcadian... those french who were kicked out of Canada when the British won the French Indian war in the mid 1700s.
History lesson over.. and now,  why not a delicious lobster and cheese omelet to start the day?
Very tasty lobster!

Then,  to work off the l and c omelet,  a 6 mile hike along the Mississippi levee trail,  passing by LSU, was just what the doctor ordered.  I looked but didn't see Shaq!

No Shaq sightings: (
Can't really explain how this 6 mile levee hike shows up below sea level?
The whole city would flood if the levee is this low!

Upon return to the ship,  some interesting statuary...
Anything for a good photo!

A great t shirt read "coffee till cocktails" and dad's comment..."why the coffee".

Lunch was surprisingly excellent... again...
Organic spinach salad with roasted grapes!

The afternoon tour of Baton Rouge included the State Museum of Louisiana, and the very significant impact of Huey Long... the builder...
3 floors of history,  culture and insight!

Great great views departing the museum.

To end our glorious day in Baton Rouge,  we had a fantastic happy hour... grilled sausages...

Well loved southern sausages...yum!

I have no photos of the beautiful rack of lamb,  the GSM from Sonoma or the talented singer/ historian that made our evening a hoot.. but leave it to say,  a great fun night was had by all!
